Justice for Wildlife

Bringing the Law to the Frontline of Conservation

This project aims to protect and conserve nature and wildlife in Uganda through legal means. Wildlife cannot speak for itself, but we can. When we speak for wildlife, we are also speaking for ourselves.

Our approach is through community-based conservation, which is crucial in addressing the root causes of poaching and illegal trade by involving local populations in protecting wildlife and providing alternative livelihoods.

People often break the law without knowing it, or they do so because they see no other choice. If we want to protect wildlife, we need to protect people too. You cannot protect wildlife if people see them as a threat to their livelihoods. We need to show them the value and also help them find alternatives that support their livelihoods. Justice Tourism Foundation is working with the law enforcement police, rangers, and the legal fraternity to increase awareness, build capacity in law enforcement, and promote a culture of prevention through outreach in fishing and hunting communities to ensure justice is achieved where wildlife crimes are committed.

How Can You Be Involved?

At Justice Tourism Foundation, we rely on generous supporters to help us protect animals and educate local communities about conservation. We have made it simple for everyone to contribute to wildlife conservation. Every donation made will result in preventing wildlife crimes and providing poachers with another possibility of acquiring income, education to their community, and capacity-building opportunities while simultaneously providing financial stability to them.
